This design was born out of a collaborative endeavor that Felice Espinoza and I embarked on. She was establishing her practice with The Center of Conscious Movement when she reached out to ask me if I could help with an invitation and flyer to match the emerging theme of “Embodying Spring” …

This is a symbol of collaboration in many ways.

The center piece is extracted from a digital photograph taken by Sam D. Angevine (my uncle) circa 2015. He got lucky when observing wild life in the courtyard and DeGrazia’s Gallery in the Sun, apparently hummingbirds do not get much nectar out of cactus flowers like these but this hummer just happened to poke its beak in at a moment my uncle was able to capture!

The desert ristra-like design is a digital remix of an original watercolor painting by Janet Tifft.
